My Big Dinosaur Book ~ by Roger Priddy
Book Review Level: Non-readers and up
Great dinosaur book for young children. Amazing dinosaur pictures.
Struggling readers would probably find it difficult to pronounce the
names of the dinosaurs but the dinosaur pictures will still interest
them. As far as books for kids go this would be a good book to read
aloud to them. It has good dinosaur pictures and a name for each dinosaur
but not much else. Big board book ideal for babies and toddlers with
stunning large format brings dinosaur pictures to life. It can serve
a purpose for older readers because it has great images that will
encourage them to explore more. |

The Great
Dinosaur Discoveries ~ by Darren Naish Book Review Level: Avid Readers
Kids will love the180 pages packed full of fascinating information
plus glossary, index and appendixes. This is not highly technical
for |
 |
the most part but
it is for avid readers. Average readers would enjoy some the information
but not likely to read from cover to cover. As far as books for kids
go this is definately for the older set. Great dinosaur pictures but
more text. Broken down into easily readable sections but has a huge
amount of text for slow readers... I would recommend it for about
12 to adult but my 10 year old would sit and read it for hours. It
would depend on how well they read and their individual interest in
the subject of dinosaurs and paleontology. |

The Ultimate
Dino-Pedia ~ by National Geographic Kids Book Review Level: Average and Up
GREAT! Average readers won't have any problems with this |
 |
book about dinosaurs.
Slow readers would even enjoy this book to read bits and pieces of
it. Great dinosaur pictures and information. They did a Dino-Mite
Job on this book. Our only criticism is that some of the dinosaur
pictures are a little fuzzy and that some of the images that show
scale by comparing dinosaurs to an average size man are not very accurate
{most of them are accurate but not all}. Packed full of information
and images about dinosaurs with a great format and easy to read. A
definitely recommendable book for kids but don't just take our word
for it because this book is available at our local library.

Book Review Level: Average Reader and Up
Absolutely LOVE this book. Great for average readers and up but still
passable for slow readers. Broken down into easy to read factoids.
Some dinosaur pictures but mostly text. However, the text is not in
large paragraphs or too technical. Strait forward, easy to read and
fascinating. As far as dinosaur books for kids go this one is great
for curious kids.

Dinosaur
and other prehistoric animal Fact Finder ~ by Dr. Michael Benton
Book Review Level: Average and Up
Great books for kids that are average readers and even passable for
slow readers {not for children that are struggling readers to read
on their own}. This will keep even the interest of advanced readers.
Strait forward and packed full of information. Discoveries, paleontology,
age of the earth, prehistory, how fossils are formed, classifying
fossils, A-Z introductory dinosaurs fact sheets, directory of museums
and a glossary. Good dinosaur pictures, decent charts and maps. Graphics
on every page. Definitely recommended books for kids.

The Glow-in-the-Dark book of Dinosaur Sekletons ~ by Annie Ingle Book
Review Level: Slow Readers and Up
One of those great books for kids for encouraging slow readers or
for reading with a struggling or non reader. Non-fiction but in a
story book format. You can feel the skeleton on each page and then
turn out the lights and it glows in the dark! Good way to excite those
budding palenontology enthusists. 15 pages of dinosaur pictures and
glow in the dark skeletons printed on the dinosaur pictures but there
is only 9 short paragraphs with limited amount of large words so that
kids don't feel over whelmed. Children will feel encouraged and confident
and it fosters the love of dinosaurs and reading.

Dinosaur Hunters ~ by Kate mcMullan
Book Review Level: Slow Readers and Up
Great for encouraging slow readers or for reading with a struggling
or non reader. Another Non-fiction that is in a story book format.
Actual chapters and it shows how to pronounce all the strange and
scientific words. Bright illustrations, well thought out dinosaur
pictures and good explanations. A good basic introductions that cover
most of the bases and it is pleasant to read. Colorful dinosaur pictures,
illustrations and graphics used to support the explanations.

First Dinosaur
Encyclopedia ~ by DK books
Book Review Level: Average and Up
What a great beginners' book! Great books for kids who read
at an average level as well as advanced readers but would also
be good for |
 ★★★★★ |
encouraging a struggling
reader if used with help. It is packed full of facts about dinosaurs
and information in a fun readable format that doesn't overwhelm. Has
great dinosaur pictures and vivid, bright images on every page and
is colorful and engaging. However, it does have some graphic hunting/bloody
scenes. Broken down into sections by subjects and very organized.
Talks about many subjects important to the field of paleontology and
has lots of scale comparisons that kids will relate easily to. Easily
our favorite book of dinosaurs for children! |
